Pot Size

Compact, evergreen magnolia with glossy foliage and fragrant creamy-white blooms from spring through summer (spot flowering outside peak). Ideal for formal hedging, soft screening, feature planting, and large pots in SE QLD / Brisbane. Clips neatly and keeps a tidy, narrow habit.

Plant Guide

What to use me for: Formal hedge, soft screen, narrow feature near entries or along fences, large statement pots.

I grow to: About 3–5 m tall × 2–3 m wide; can be kept 2.5–3.5 m with pruning. More compact in containers.

Features: Dense, glossy leaves with warm undersides; strongly fragrant white flowers; responds well to clipping; clean, upright form.

Plant Care

Where to place me: Full sun to part shade; protect from hot, reflected afternoon heat; good airflow.

How far to space me: Tight hedge: 1.0–1.2 m centres. Softer screen: 1.5–2.0 m.

Soil Conditions: Prefers free-draining, organically enriched soil. Likes slightly acidic conditions. Avoid waterlogging; mound in heavier soils. Mulch, keeping trunk clear. Avoid overcrowded underplanting.

Extra-Care: Regular water to establish; then moderate. Light tip-prune after flowering to shape and thicken. Feed in spring with a slow-release fertiliser suited to acid-loving evergreens.
