A lush, emerald-green trailing groundcover with fine, rounded leaves that spill gracefully over pots, walls, and garden edges.
Forms a dense, cascading mat that softens hard edges and fills gaps between steppers or under trees. Perfect for creating a vibrant green contrast to silvery or flowering plants. Low water needs once established and ideal for Brisbane’s warm, humid climate.
Best for: edges, borders, hanging baskets, retaining walls, mixed pots, and shaded groundcover planting.
Origin: North America (south-western USA & Mexico)
Attracts: Occasional pollinators and ground-dwelling beneficial insects.

Features: Fine emerald-green foliage, fast-spreading habit, dense coverage, tolerant of heat and dry conditions once established.
Plant Care
Plant Care
Where to place me: Full sun to part shade. Performs best with at least 4–6 hours of light; shade-tolerant but may grow less densely in deep shade.
How far to space me: 30–50cm centres for quick coverage; up to 50cm for economical planting.
Soil Conditions: Free-draining, moderately fertile soil or quality potting mix. Avoid waterlogging.
Extra-Care: Deeply water 2–3 times weekly during establishment (first 6–8 weeks), then only as needed. Low water once roots established; water a little more in extreme heat. Avoid heavy traffic (not a lawn), light foot traffic only. Can be mown on high setting if used as lawn-substitute patch. Trim runners to shape at overhanging paths or to renew growth. Generally pest-free; occasional snail or minor leaf spot in prolonged humidity. Feed lightly in spring with a slow-release fertiliser, low-P if using with natives and every 3–6 months during active growth. Avoid SE QLD and Brisbane hot afternoon sun, during summer. Provide shade in Brisbane afternoon sun to prevent scorch.
