What to use me for: I’m a reliable soft/statement screening and coastal hedge option, great as a street or driveway tree, and a tidy feature near entries or along boundaries.
I grow to: Typically 6–8 m tall and 3–4 m wide in the ground; can be maintained 3–5 m with pruning. More compact in large pots.
Features: Dense, glossy evergreen canopy; white flowers in warm months; decorative fruit; high wind and salt tolerance; clips to a tidy line.
Plant Care
Plant Care
Where to place me: Full sun to part sun. Handles exposed coastal and windy positions once established.
How far to space me: Tight hedge/screen: 1.0–1.5 m centres. Softer screen: 1.8–2.5 m. Specimen/avenue: 3–4 m between trees.
Soil Conditions: Prefers free-draining soils; excels in sandy/coastal sites. Avoid long-term waterlogging. Mulch well (keep mulch off the trunk).
Extra-Care: Water regularly to establish; then low–moderate water needs. Light formative prune when young; clip 2–3×/year to hold a narrow screen. Feed in spring with a slow-release fertiliser for natives/evergreens.
